The material below provides some examples of e-learning projects we have implemented.

BTB Biosecuritydefra tb

In 2016 Resource Initiatives and Land Based Learning Ltd collaborated to develop an e-learning course on behalf of The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in support of the Government’s 25 year strategy to eradicate bTB in England.

A key component of the Government’s strategy is the implementation of a simple five point plan supporting the application of good biosecurity. The course provides a background to these five points and the scientific principles that they are based on and aims to educate current and future cattle farmers about best practice.

The course is hosted on the Land Based Learning Moodle platform and is comprised of a series of HTML 5 Scorm compliant packages, making it accessible via any type of electronic device.


Fishermen Trainingseafish

Seafish is a Government quango which has national responsibility for safety and training in the UK fishing industry.

In 2016 RI was commissioned to create some interactive training modules for Seafish Online Training as part of its Moodle based on-line learning environment. The modules support the key competencies required by fishermen and provide a rich opportunity for participants to assess their own progress through the training materials.

All the modules are HTML 5 Scorm compliant and can easily be accessed via any type of electronic device.


Landbased skills developmentlandbased

Land Based Learning Ltd is a joint venture between Landex members and the University of Northampton to deliver high quality interactive online course materials.

RI was commissioned in 2015 to convert a series of paper-based Workbooks produced by the former Land Based Colleges National Collaboration into a range of interactive learning materials. The materials are designed to promote independent learning amongst students and to reduce the time staff at the colleges have to spend preparing their own materials and assessment.

The highly accessible and interactive materials are HTML 5 Scorm compliant and can easily be accessed via any type of electronic device, enabling students to access them at their own pace and time.


Eating disorder educatonabc

Anorexia and Bulimia Care (ABC) is a registered charity since 1989. It is a national organisation run for sufferers of eating disorders, their families, carers and professionals.

RI was commissioned by ABC to design and create a series e-learning materials to promote a greater understanding of eating disorders. The materials have been designed for easy access allowing sufferers, their families, carers and professionals an opportunity to find out more about these common eating disorders. They have been created in an HTML 5 Scorm compliant format so that they can easily be accessed via any type of electronic device and can be effectively hosted on the internet.

The look and feel of the materials match the ABC house style and corporate identity.


Equine skills developmentbrs elearing

The British Racing School (BRS) is a Centre of Excellence for horseracing which provides a range of training opportunities for those that work with horses.

RI was commissioned by BRS to create a series of e-learning materials to be used to support their basic learning programmes. The materials were designed to provide the essential knowledge and skills required by those working with horses. They cover the basic requirements of horse handling and the management of horse welfare.

The learning materials were developed initially to be accessed via DVD but have subsequently been modified so that they are now available via the BRS's own Moodle based VLE. They are designed for easy access and place a heavy emphasis on the use of video and other electronic media.

The materials have been used successfully over the past five years supporting a range of different courses offered by the BRS.

Barfoots Training Academy - e-learning for industry

Barfoots of Botley is one of the UKs leading suppliers of fresh produce and sweetcorn based products, servicing many of the UK's large retailers. It is a progressive and innovative company that has fully embraced modern technology in support of its staff development.

RI was commissioned by Barfoots to create e-learning materials to be hosted on their training academy website. The materials were designed to support the development of the core competencies required by production staff in areas such as health and safety, hygiene and effective working. The materials developed introduced the essential knowledge and skills required by staff but in a context appropriate to the working environment at Barfoots.

Seafish is a Government quango which has national responsibility for safety and training in the UK fishing industry.

Kingfisher is a Government quango which advises the marine industries about the dangers associated with offshore oil, gas and renewable industry structures .

In 2017 RI was commissioned to create some interactive training modules to for fishermen and other maritime industries about the dangers they face when operating near offshore structures.

All the modules are HTML 5 Scorm compliant and can easily be accessed via any type of electronic device.




Dental professional CPD awarenessdenistry

The Post-Graduate Medical Centre (PGMC) based at Addenbrookes hospital has responsibility for supporting the development of medical professionals.

In 2018 RI was commissioned to create an interactive training module to introduce the new CPD requirements that dental professionals are now required to comply with. The materials are hosted on the PGMC Moodle on-line learning environment.

The module is fully Scorm compliant and can easily be accessed via any type of electronic device.



Gender Balancecmt

CMT is a specialist communication training consultancy based in London. We recently supported CMT on the creation of a blended elearning product on Gender Balance. 

These elearning materials are designed to raise awareness about gender balance. They aim to help people develop an understanding of gender balance and its effects in the workplace. It also provides some simple solutions that can be used to help address any imbalance. 

The elearning product itself has been created so that it can be used in a variety of different ways either as a generic CMT product or as a bespoke adapted to reflect the specific needs and wants of individual organisations. 



Understanding Eating Disorders

ABC is a charity that has for 30 years provided on-going care emotional support and guidance to anyone affected by eating disorders.

We recently completed the development of a bespoke elearning module for ABC, targeted at personal training and fitness professions. The aim of the module is awareness raising, helping fitness professionals to can gain an understanding of eating disorders and their impact. As a learning module, it introduces the common forms of eating disorder and goes on to look at how they can be recognised and the actions that can be taken to correct the disorder.

This was a really interesting and rewarding piece of work.



Offshore Hazard Awareness


We have just completed the development of this hazard awareness elearning module for Kingfisher.  The module introduces learners to the activities associated with the oil, gas, renewables and cable offshore sectors.  It focuses in particular on the various offshore structures that are installed and introduces the hazards that these structures present to commercial fishing activity. 

The materials are being hosted on Seafish's virtual learning environment for fishermen. The new materials the latest addition to the Introduction to the commercial fishing course, an induction programme for new entrants to the fishing industry. The course itself is a blended learning solution combining the elearning found on Seafish online with a three week of face-to-face teaching experience.  


genomicsPatient Choice: Discussing Whole Genome Sequencing with Patients

Developed for the East Midlands and East of England Genomic Laboratory Hub, this HTML5 Scorm compliant course supports the implementation of the patient choice consent framework for whole genome sequencing in the NHS Genomic Medicine Service. The course focuses on discussions with patients and the legalities of consent in the context of testing for rare diseases and cancer.

The course is hosted on Cambridge University Health Partnership (CUHP) and Addenbrookes Postgraduate Medical Centre (PGMC) Moodle site.





abc recoveryFirst Steps to Recovery

This bespoke elearning module was developed for Anorexia and Bulimia Care (ABC) as a tool to help assist the charity in its care and support of people affected by anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other types of eating distress.

The aim of the course is to help users to begin thinking about recovery from an eating disorder, offering useful information and tips to help prepare them for their recovery journey.

The course is hosted on ABC's Moodle site.



bali elearningLand-based Operations Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness

This series of elearning modules were developed for ROLO (Register of Land-based Operations) part of the British Association of Landscape Industries. ROLO aims to raise the standards of health and safety and reduce risks and accidents throughout the landscape industry for anyone who works in the land-based sector.

The modules supplement the delivery of the ROLO Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness Level 3 and 4 Courses, a pre-requisite for anyone applying for a LISS/CSCS SmartCard and are avaible on the ROLO moodle site.
