Strengthening Our Team

In 2023, we welcomed Dr. Patrick Coutin as an associate consultant, bringing 40 years of research experience in fish and crustacean stock assessment and aquatic habitat evaluation. Dr. Coutin has contributed to fisheries management plans for sustainable development and the preparation of Fisheries Status Reports for the Victorian Government and the Co-Management Council in Australia. His expertise spans temperate and tropical coastal waters in Europe, West Africa, and the Pacific.

Dr. Coutin's illustrious career includes coordinating research and promoting collaboration in multiple states as the Chair of the Southern Rock Lobster Research Group. He has successfully conducted stock assessments on various marine species for the Victorian and Commonwealth governments in Australia. His extensive background encompasses:

  • Over 70 scientific publications, fisheries management plans, and status reports
  • Maritime safety training and advanced electronic tagging of cod in the North Sea
  • Leadership roles in the Australian Society for Fish Biology, including serving as President from 2007 to 2009
