What is SCORM and Why Does It Matter for E-Learning?
SCORM is a technical standard used in e-learning. It allows online learning content to work within a Learning Management System, often called an LMS.
In simple terms, SCORM-based e-learning courses, uploaded to learning platforms, track what the learner does. This can include whether they have opened the course, completed it, passed an assessment, achieved a score, or spent time working through the learning materials.
A course created in an authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline can be published as a SCORM package and then uploaded into a compatible LMS.

Why is SCORM useful?
SCORM helps organisations manage online learning more effectively. It allows training providers, employers and awarding organisations to closely track learner progress. It is used primarily where learning links to compliance and organisations need to evidence course completion of clients or regulatory authorities.
RI Training and SCORM
RI Training can develop and publish its bespoke e-learning content as SCORM packages when clients want to monitor learner completion and performance. This is useful where clients need evidence that learners have completed required training or achieved a specific level of understanding.
Do I need SCORM?
SCORM is useful to anyone who needs to track progress and completion of eLearning to Support compliance or competence-based training.
SCORM is also useful because it is a universal standard so helps ensure the transferability of learning objects between different LMS systems
RI Training can help you design, develop and host SCORM-based e-learning as part of a wider learning and assessment solution.
