Assessor Training
Develop the Skills to Assess Competence Effectively
Effective assessment is essential for developing competent people. Whether assessing workplace performance, vocational skills or professional qualifications, assessors need the knowledge and confidence to make fair, consistent and reliable assessment decisions.
At RI Training, we deliver practical Assessor Development programmes for individuals and organisations responsible for assessing workplace competence. Whether you are new to assessment or looking to formalise your existing experience, our programmes provide the practical skills and nationally recognised qualifications needed to become an effective assessor.
Who Should Attend?
Our Assessor Development programmes are suitable for:
- Workplace assessors
- Trainers responsible for assessing learners
- Supervisors and managers assessing staff competence
- Vocational and technical trainers
- Organisations delivering accredited qualifications
- Subject specialists who need to assess practical skills
- Individuals wishing to become qualified assessors
Participants are expected to have technical knowledge of their own occupational area. Our role is to develop the assessment skills needed to assess competence confidently, consistently and in accordance with recognised best practice.

Course Overview
Our programmes are designed to be flexible and can be delivered for organisations or groups of individual learners. Training may be delivered face-to-face, online or through a blended learning approach, depending on your requirements.
Depending on the programme selected, training is typically delivered over one to three days and combines tutor-led sessions, practical activities, discussions and real workplace assessment scenarios.
The emphasis is always on developing practical assessment skills that can be applied immediately in the workplace.

Assessment and Certification
The qualifications are competency-based and require learners to demonstrate their assessment skills in real or realistic working environments.
Evidence is collected throughout the programme using SwiftTrack, our secure online e-portfolio platform. Learners can upload documents, assessment records, observation reports and other supporting evidence while receiving ongoing guidance and feedback from their assessor.
Once the required evidence has been completed, the portfolio is assessed against the qualification standards before certification is awarded.
