The British Association of Landscape Industries (
BALI) are responsible for overseeing the deliver of the
ROLO qualifications to the landscape sector in the UK.
Up until recently all of the ROLO operative training delivered by BALI approved training providers was face-to-face training delivered in a classroom, where course participants undertook a paper-based test at the end of each six-hour course.
During COVID restrictions this course went online, along with the end assessment test being delivered electronically via the
Moodle VLE we developed and manage on behalf of BALI.
Online delivery of the test was a huge success, proving popular with operatives, providing some real efficiency savings, as well as ‘green’ savings linked to the reduced requirement for printing and travel. This resulted in BALI making the decision to move and run all of their assessments electronically from February 2023.
As part of this online migration, BALI commissioned us to deliver a programme of workshops to support their approved training providers in the transition to on-line assessment. By the end of December, we had successfully trained fifteen training providers so they are now ready to implement the online assessment process. The programme is on-going until the end of January.
